Boost for homeless in WorthingHomeless people in need of support will get some vital help after plans to demolish an empty building on an industrial estate and replace it with 21 individual apartments were given the green light.
Worthing Borough Council’s Planning Committee has voted through the proposal to knock down the vacant Skywaves House on the 0.11 hectare brownfield site at the end of Ivy Arch Road, Worthing, and build some much-needed temporary housing.

Support Worthing Samaritans and sign up for a Samarathon this SummerWorthing Samaritans is inviting supporters to sign up to Samarathon, the charity’s annual virtual marathon. Funds raised will help Worthing Samaritans continue to be there for people struggling to cope.
Worthing Samaritans is encouraging people to sign up to Samarathon and set themselves the challenge of walking, jogging or running the equivalent of a marathon distance during July, helping the charity’s volunteers continue to provide vital emotional support.

Safe in Sussex & Turning Tides joint Kintsugi Women – Golden Repair ExhibitionWorthing Museum and Art Gallery is hosting an art exhibition, created by clients who access services from two local charities, Safe in Sussex for victims of domestic abuse, and Turning Tides for the homeless of West Sussex. The exhibition is called ‘The Kintsugi Women – Golden Repair’, and was launched on 14th May and runs until 25th September.

Worthing’s Co-op Member Pioneer colleagues joined together to host an Afternoon of Tea and EntertainCo-op colleagues Bob Smytherman (Member Pioneer for East Worthing, Lancing & Sompting) and Ann-Marie Lovejoy (Member Pioneer for West Worthing) joined together for a fundraiser and awareness event to support local charity West Sussex Mind to mark the start of Mental Health Awareness Week (9th-15th May).
Nationally Co-op colleagues have been raising funds for the last year to help reach the partnership target of £8 million for National Mind and SAMH in Scotland & Inspire in Northern Ireland
Colleagues Bob and Ann-Marie were joined by volunteers from the Lovejoy Centre in Worthing to prepare an Afternoon Tea with a Singalong followed by an Entertaining Quiz with Bob who is well known locally for hosting an online International Quiz during the Lockdown over the last two years.
