Grafton site could become homes and gateway to Worthing seafront

Worthing’s Grafton multi-storey car park could be sold off to be demolished and redeveloped into new homes and a gateway to the seafront.

Councillors are to consider plans to sell the site and neighbouring shops to a developer to transform the area with at least 150 new homes as well as enhanced leisure facilities, commercial units and green spaces for the community.

Worthing submits applications to protect its coastline

Two applications seeking improved protection for Worthing’s coastal waters have been submitted to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

After collecting data throughout the summer along with its team of citizen scientists, Worthing Borough Council has this week submitted applications to designate two popular sections of shoreline as bathing areas.

Grants available for warm welcome spaces in Adur and Worthing this winter

Last year a host of community groups and organisations across Adur and Worthing opened their doors to help residents struggling with the cost of living crisis keep warm.

Using funding from Adur & Worthing Councils, 29 venues including community centres, schools, churches, cinemas and museums offered people the opportunity to stay warm while socialising and taking part in activities. There was even the chance to watch films for free at Connaught Cinema in Worthing as part of its warm space offering.

Funding awarded to create community orchard at Worthing’s Cissbury Fields

A new community orchard is to be created at Worthing’s Cissbury Fields as part of a shared plan to nurture the space into a thriving environment for wildlife and visitors alike.

Following a successful grant application by Worthing Borough Council from the South Downs National Park Trust, 35 local variety apple and pear trees will be planted at one of the site’s six fields to create an orchard where locals can pick free fruit and connect with nature.
