Worthing community groups celebrate funding success

Groups from across Worthing have come together to build connections and celebrate their successful bids for funding from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Neighbourhood Fund.

Over £577,000 from Worthing Borough Council’s CIL Neighbourhood Fund was successfully bid for by 45 community groups and voluntary sector organisations in September this year.

Council leader calls on government to help tackle homelessness

The leader of Worthing Borough Council has signed an open letter to the Chancellor of the Exchequer urging him to provide more cash to help local authorities tackle the homelessness crisis.

The letter, which was written after an emergency summit hosted by the District Councils’ Network, outlines six urgent policy asks for the chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, to address ahead of the government’s Autumn Statement.

Businesses, community groups and organisations have gathered together in the first of a series of events to explore different economic models for Worthing.

As part of Global Doughnut Day, which took place on 13th November, Worthing Borough Council hosted an afternoon of networking, talks and group discussions on Doughnut Economics to see whether this global model could be adapted to the local area and work with the council’s economic principles.
