Queen’s Green Canopy Tree of Trees tree

The Wellderness has been chosen as custodians of one of 350 trees from the Queen’s Green Canopy Tree of Trees
Worthing, 10th of October 2022.

The Wellderness, a community interest company based in West Sussex, is delighted to announce that they’ve been chosen as custodians of one of the 350 trees from the Queen’s Green Canopy Tree of Trees.

They’ll celebrate this honour with a special tree planting event at Wild Heart Hill in Findon. Scheduled for Saturday, 26th of November. The event will bring our community together with Lady Emma Barnard, the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, plus select local dignitaries.

Matt Dumbleton, co-founder of The Wellderness, said, “I’m proud and deeply touched for The Wellderness to be chosen as custodians of one of these very special trees. Our volunteers and community members have accomplished a great deal to contribute to the legacies of Her Late Majesty and The Wellderness. I hope this tree and what it represents can inspire others to reconnect to nature and feel the benefits of living in community with one another and our wider environment.

As a non-profit, creating a 1,000-year legacy of improving people’s lives through nature and improving nature through people, planting trees is in their DNA. In fact, with the support of their community, they planted 1,100 trees in the South Downs National Park between October 2021 and March 2022.

This year, they plan to do even better. This special tree will be one of the many that they'll plant in contribution to South Downs National Park’s target of 11,000 trees planted throughout the current season.

Mark Cropley, who co-founded The Wellderness alongside Matt, added, “For a small volunteer-led organisation, this is a tremendous honour, and it will act as a beacon to inspire our local community to create their own 1000-year legacy.”
